Description

Neoregelia ‘Dharma’ – Brilliant Pink Color & Striking Variegation

Neoregelia ‘Dharma’ is an exceptionally colorful tropical bromeliad prized for its combination of bold variegation and intense central coloration. Broad, glossy leaves develop in a symmetrical rosette, creating an architectural display of rich green accented by creamy ivory longitudinal stripes.

As the plant matures and approaches its flowering cycle, the inner portion of the rosette can develop an extraordinary pink to crimson-red flush. Against the contrasting green and cream foliage, this brilliant coloration creates a dramatic centerpiece that immediately draws the eye.

Like other Neoregelias, the true flowers are relatively small and emerge within the central cup. The foliage provides the main ornamental display and can remain attractive for an extended period. Color intensity naturally varies with maturity, growing conditions, and light exposure, so each plant develops its own individual pattern and character.

Its tropical appearance makes Neoregelia ‘Dharma’ an excellent choice for bromeliad collections, decorative containers, patios, shaded tropical gardens, and bright indoor environments.

🌿 Plant Characteristics

  • Botanical Name: Neoregelia ‘Dharma’
  • Plant Type: Tropical epiphytic bromeliad
  • Growth Habit: Rosette-forming
  • Foliage: Broad, glossy green leaves with creamy ivory variegation
  • Color: Green and cream with vivid pink to crimson-red coloration developing toward the center
  • Flowering: Small flowers emerge within the central rosette
  • Growth Cycle: Produces offsets, or pups, as the mature mother rosette completes its natural flowering cycle

☀️ Light

Provide bright filtered light or bright indirect light for strong growth and attractive coloration. Good light helps encourage the characteristic pink and red tones, while excessive intense midday sun may scorch the foliage, particularly the lighter variegated portions. Plants grown outdoors should be acclimated gradually to brighter conditions.

💧 Water

Keep a small amount of clean water in the central rosette and refresh it regularly. Water the growing medium when it begins to approach dryness, allowing excess water to drain freely. Avoid keeping the potting mix continuously saturated.

🌱 Soil & Potting

Use a loose, airy, fast-draining bromeliad or epiphytic growing mix. Neoregelias appreciate excellent drainage and airflow around the roots rather than dense, water-retentive soil.

💦 Humidity

Moderate to high humidity is beneficial, especially when combined with good air circulation. Avoid stagnant conditions where foliage remains continuously wet without adequate airflow.

🌡️ Temperature

Neoregelia ‘Dharma’ prefers warm tropical conditions and should be protected from frost and prolonged cold. Temperatures above approximately 55°F are preferable for active growth.

🌿 Fertilizer

Feed lightly during active growth with a diluted, balanced fertilizer. Bromeliads require relatively little fertilizer, and excessive feeding may encourage overly soft growth or diminish desirable foliage coloration.

🌸 Growth & Pups

After flowering, the mature rosette gradually begins its natural decline while producing pups around its base. Allow the offsets to develop before separating them, or leave them attached to create an increasingly full bromeliad cluster.

✨ Please Note

Each Neoregelia ‘Dharma’ is naturally unique. Variegation, pink and red coloration, leaf markings, size, and overall appearance will vary according to maturity, season, and growing conditions. Unless specifically listed as a one-of-a-kind plant, photos are representative of the variety and its potential coloration.
