Description:
Alcantarea odorata is a stunning, sun-loving bromeliad native to Brazil. Known for its broad, silver-green leaves and architectural form, this slow-growing beauty can reach up to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide when mature. It forms a majestic rosette and can take several years to bloom — but when it does, it produces a tall, striking flower spike that can last for months. It’s a true centerpiece plant, ideal for patios, gardens, or as a dramatic container specimen.

🌞 Care Instructions

Light:

Water:
Water into the central tank (“cup”) of the plant, and keep it filled with fresh water. Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings — do not let roots sit in water.

Soil:
Use a fast-draining mix. A blend designed for bromeliads or orchids works well.

Temperature:
Thrives in warm climates (USDA Zones 9–11). If grown in cooler zones, keep in a container and bring indoors during winter.

Fertilizer:
Apply a diluted, balanced fertilizer into the tank monthly during growing season.

Mature Size:
Up to 3 ft tall and 4 ft wide

Non-toxic to pets, but not recommended for consumption.
