Description
Alocasia reversa
Known for its dramatic contrast and compact form, Alocasia reversa (genus: Alocasia) is a rare jewel in the plant world. Its arrow-shaped leaves feature deep green margins surrounding a striking, silvery-blue center — a reverse coloration compared to most Alocasia species, hence its name. This beauty is perfect for collectors who appreciate unique foliage patterns in a smaller, easy-to-display size.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sunlight that may scorch the leaves.
- Water: Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings.
- Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60–80%). Mist regularly or use a humidifier for best growth.
- Temperature: Prefers warmth — keep above 65°F and away from drafts or sudden temperature drops.
- Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining mix with peat, perlite, and orchid bark to promote healthy roots.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength.
Tip: Rotate the plant regularly to encourage even growth and prevent it from leaning toward the light.
