Let your plant collection climb to new heights!

Philodendron corsinianumĀ  is a gorgeous and very rarely offered for sale hybrid, thought to be the first man-made philodendron hybrid. Created in the 1880’s at the public gardens of ā€˜La Cascine’ in Florence, Italy and named after Prince Corsini. It is said to be a hybrid of Philodendron verrucosum and Philodendron pinnatifidum.

Corsinianum appears to be a self heading philodendron but in reality it is a monstrous climber with huge brownish green draping leaves and a pinkish-maroon underside. Kept in containers this plant grows very well in a shaded location. Given a totem to climb only enhances the rate of growth and leaf size. Very large and unique.

🌿 Philodendron corsinianum

Botanical Name: Philodendron corsinianum

The Philodendron corsinianum is an elegant and rare tropical plant that brings a bold yet sophisticated vibe to any plant collection. Known for its large, deeply lobed, leathery leaves and strong climbing habit, this philodendron makes a striking statement whether displayed as a floor plant or trained on a support. Its rich green foliage and easygoing nature make it a true gem for both novice and seasoned collectors.

✨ Plant Characteristics:

— Foliage: Large, elongated, and deeply lobed leaves with a tough, leathery texture and a subtle sheen.
— Growth Habit: Upright and vining — perfect for a moss pole or trellis to support its mature size.
— Mature Size: Can reach up to 4 to 6 feet indoors when properly supported.
— Air Purifying: Naturally filters toxins from the air, enhancing indoor air quality.
— Native Habitat: Tropical rainforests of South America.

🌱 Care Instructions:

Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light but will tolerate medium-light conditions. Avoid direct sun, which can cause leaf burn.

Water:
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. Reduce watering during the cooler months.

Humidity:
Loves a humid environment — aim for 50–70% humidity for optimal growth. Occasional misting or a pebble tray can help maintain moisture levels.

Temperature:
Prefers temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 55°F (13°C).

Soil:
A chunky, well-draining mix — such as a blend of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite — will keep this philodendron happy.

Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during spring and summer using a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Pause feeding in the fall and winter months.

šŸ’” Pro Tip:

Support your Philodendron corsinianum with a moss pole to encourage larger, more mature leaves and a stronger climbing habit. Wipe leaves regularly to prevent dust buildup and maintain their deep green glow!

🌿 Why You’ll Love It:

The Philodendron corsinianum’s exotic texture, resilient nature, and air-purifying qualities make it a standout addition to any indoor plant collection. Whether you’re after a wild jungle look or an elegant modern vibe, this philodendron will thrive and impress.
