This is a popular group of plants that are grown for their ornamental foliage. They are mostly climbing plants that can be grown in homes, greenhouses, and in the far South, outside. Under good conditions, they will bear pretty “flowers” that resemble Calla Lilies. They are found wild in tropical America and the West Indies.

These plants have long aerial roots and come in many shapes and sizes. Most of the plants have rich green leaves but some may be coppery-red underneath or have veins that are red. Some leaves are red when they are young but eventually turn green. Some kinds have heart-shaped leaves, others have long and narrow leaves, some are arrow-shaped, oblong, ovate or deeply lobed. Their size varies from 3 inches to 3 feet in length. The flowers have spathes that come in different shades of purple, pink, red, or greenish-white. The central columns that bear the tiny flowers (spadices) can either be yellow, cream or white.

Philodendron ‘Moonlight’ – An eye-catching day glow yellow-green Philly is self heading and is noted for its longevity under low light in the interiorscape. Will tolerate medium to low light well.
This Philodendron is low growing and shrub-like tropical plant. However, over time, it can grow quite large around 20-24-inch-high and 20-26 inch wide.
Philo moonlight has light-green foliage meanwhile the new leaves is in a bright yellow-green chartreuse colour. Apart from that Its foliage tends to get coarser with age and its leaves become more prominently ribbed. philodendron moonlight occasionally produces white spadix with a pink to red spathe. Amazingly the Flowers may last four weeks or longer
It appreciates moderate lighting. Hence a Dappled sun or very early morning sun is very good for moonlight. Besides that, you must remember philodendron is best in positions where there is no direct sun. This is because direct sunlight will damage or burn the leaves

Temperature
The ideal temperature for this plant is 60-75ºF/16-24ºC. Temperatures above and beyond this could cause the plants growth to slow down.
Light
This plant is relatively durable and it can thrive in many different conditions but it is more suited to bright light but not direct sun. It can, however, cope with low light.
Watering
Through Spring and Summer the soil should be kept moist but during winter the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings
Soil
Typically any high quality, fast draining potting mix is good.
Re-Potting
When the roots compact and form a tight ball it is time for the plant to be repotted into a planter that is around 2-3 inches larger. Repotting should take place during the latter part of winter or spring before the plant begins to grow new leaves.
Fertilizer
The Philodendron is a plant that can grow very quickly and should be fed every month during spring and summer, especially when new leaves are growing. During the winter, feeding can take place every other month using a basic houseplant food.
Humidity
This species is quite tolerant of dry conditions. During summer it’s good practice to mist the leaves.
Propagation
The best time to take stem tip cuttings is during spring or early summer. Place the stem in water or moist soil and they should root quite easily.
