Description

Agave ‘Blue Flame’ – Flowing Form, Striking Color

The Agave ‘Blue Flame’ (Genus: Agave) gets its name from the beautiful flame-like shape of its leaves — long, smooth, elegantly curved, and glowing with cool blue-green coloration. When light hits this plant, the entire rosette looks almost illuminated, giving any space a refined, sculptural focal point.

This hybrid agave combines beauty, symmetry, and exceptional durability. It thrives equally well in the landscape or in decorative pots, making it a favorite for modern homes, desert-style gardens, coastal landscapes, and collectors looking for low-maintenance sophistication.

  • Graceful, soft-leafed architecture compared to sharper agave varieties
  • Blue-green glow that intensifies in sunlight
  • Drought-tolerant & low maintenance
  • Excellent container specimen or landscape centerpiece
  • Cold hardy to around the mid–20°F range (with protection)

🌿 Care Guide for Agave ‘Blue Flame’

Light: Full sun to bright, direct light. Outdoors, it thrives in full sun; indoors, place near your brightest window.

Water: Very drought tolerant. Water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to fully dry between waterings.

Soil: Fast-draining succulent/cactus mix. Avoid soil that stays wet — this agave prefers excellent drainage.

Temperature: Prefers warm conditions. Protect from extended freezes. Brief dips to mid–20s°F are tolerated.

Fertilizer: Light feeding during warm months with a diluted succulent fertilizer.

Growth Habit: Forms a symmetrical, upright rosette, eventually reaching 3–5 ft. Excellent long-term structural plant.

Toxicity: As with most agaves, sap may irritate skin. Handle with care.
