🌿 Hohenbergia ‘Chocolate’

Description:
Hohenbergia ‘Chocolate’ is a bold and exotic bromeliad hybrid prized for its deep, dark chocolate-burgundy foliage and upright rosette form. With its thick, spiny-edged leaves and stunning color, it brings a powerful tropical presence to any collection. This cultivar can develop even deeper tones with bright light exposure, making it an eye-catching centerpiece for gardens, patios, or indoor displays.

Native to the tropics and known for its resilience, the Hohenbergia ‘Chocolate’ is both beautiful and tough, thriving with minimal care once established. Whether you’re an avid collector or just looking for a unique plant with personality, this one won’t disappoint.

🌞 Care Guide:

  • Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. The more sun it receives, the richer the chocolate tones in its leaves. Indoors, place near a bright window.

  • Water:
Keep the central cup (or tank) filled with fresh water and rinse it out periodically. Water the soil lightly, allowing it to dry out between waterings.

  • Humidity:
Enjoys moderate to high humidity, but adapts well to typical household conditions.

  • Temperature:
Thrives in warm temperatures. Ideal range is 60–85°F (15–29°C). Protect from frost.

  • Fertilizer:
Use a diluted bromeliad fertilizer monthly during the growing season. Avoid over-fertilizing to maintain its vibrant color.

  • Potting & Soil:
Use a well-draining mix—orchid bark, perlite, and a bit of peat work well. Can be grown mounted or in a pot with good airflow.

💡 Tip: This plant develops its full character and color when slightly stressed by sunlight, so don’t be afraid to give it some sun time! Just acclimate gradually to prevent leaf burn.
