Hoya sigillatis
Elegant foliage, easy charm.
Description:
Hoya sigillatis is a must-have for any foliage lover. Native to Borneo, this captivating vining Hoya is prized for its slender, lance-shaped leaves marked with silvery-gray speckles and a subtle reddish hue under bright light. The dramatic contrast between its dark green base and delicate silver markings makes it a striking addition to any indoor plant collection. Though it does bloom with small, star-shaped flowers, its true beauty lies in the foliage.
Highlights:
Long, narrow leaves with silver splashes
Foliage can turn reddish under bright light
Compact, trailing growth — perfect for hanging baskets or shelves
Can produce clusters of fragrant flowers in ideal conditions
Care Guide
Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate some morning sun, but avoid harsh direct sun which may scorch the leaves. The more light it gets, the more vibrant and reddish the foliage can become.
Water:
Let the soil dry out between waterings. Hoya sigillatis prefers to be on the dry side. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–70%). It will appreciate regular misting or a nearby humidifier, especially in dry environments.
Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep it away from cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F.
Soil:
Use a chunky, well-draining mix — such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat. Hoyas hate soggy roots!
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Cut back in fall and winter.
Propagation:
Easily propagated via stem cuttings placed in water or moist sphagnum moss.
