Description:
Tolumnia orchids, often called “equitant oncidiums,” are small but stunning orchids known for their vibrant, intricate flowers. Native to the Caribbean, these epiphytic orchids thrive in warm, breezy environments and produce delicate, butterfly-like blooms in a range of colors, including reds, yellows, pinks, and purples. Their compact size and frequent flowering make them a favorite among orchid enthusiasts.

Care Guide:

🌞 Light: Bright, indirect light. They thrive in conditions similar to Cattleyas, preferring filtered sunlight or grow lights.

💦 Watering: Unlike most orchids, Tolumnia prefer to dry out between waterings. Water 2–3 times per week, allowing the roots to dry completely before the next watering. Reduce frequency in cooler months.

💨 Humidity & Airflow: High humidity (50–70%) is ideal, but good airflow is essential to prevent rot.

🌡 Temperature: Warm-growing orchids that prefer daytime temperatures between 75–85°F (24–29°C) and nighttime temperatures no lower than 60°F (16°C).

🌱 Potting & Medium: Best grown in small baskets, mounted, or in well-draining media like coarse bark or sphagnum moss. Avoid dense, moisture-retaining mixes.
