Aechmea ‘Peggy’
$34.99
Aechmea ‘Peggy’ is an elegant tropical bromeliad where graceful green foliage gives way to an extraordinary burst of color. Long, slender leaves form a lush upright rosette, while a vivid coral-salmon stalk rises above the foliage and branches into an airy, candelabra-like display.
As the display matures, the warm coral branches become adorned with clusters of brilliant golden-yellow fruits, creating a striking contrast of green, salmon, and gold. Architectural, colorful, and wonderfully tropical, ‘Peggy’ makes an unforgettable specimen for bromeliad collections, shaded landscapes, patios, and bright interiors.
Best grown in bright filtered light to partial shade with warm temperatures, good air circulation, and a well-draining bromeliad mix.

Description
Aechmea ‘Peggy’
Aechmea ‘Peggy’ is a distinctive tropical bromeliad that pairs graceful green foliage with an exceptionally colorful and architectural reproductive display. A cultivar associated with Aechmea ramosa, ‘Peggy’ develops a handsome upright rosette of long, slender green leaves that creates an elegant tropical presence even before the plant reaches maturity.
The real spectacle begins when a strong coral-to-salmon stalk emerges from the center of the rosette. Rising prominently above the foliage, the stalk divides into numerous lateral branches, forming an open, candelabra-like structure that gives the plant remarkable height and dimension.
Following flowering, the branching structure can develop masses of golden-yellow fruits. Set against the warm salmon-coral branches and glossy green foliage, these fruits create an extraordinary combination of green, coral, and gold. The result is colorful without losing the wonderfully natural, botanical character that makes mature bromeliads so fascinating.
Unlike many Aechmeas grown primarily for a compact central bloom or highly patterned foliage, ‘Peggy’ is especially admired for the scale and architecture of its mature display. Its branching stalk draws the eye upward while the long green foliage creates a lush foundation below.
Beautiful as a specimen plant, Aechmea ‘Peggy’ is equally at home in a tropical landscape, bromeliad garden, protected patio, or decorative container. In suitable indoor conditions, it can also make an impressive interior specimen when provided with abundant filtered light and good air circulation.
Care Guide
Light: Bright filtered light to partial shade is ideal. Good light helps maintain strong, compact growth and supports development of the plant's mature display. Protect plants from harsh afternoon sun unless they have been gradually acclimated to stronger light.
Water: Keep a small amount of clean water in the central cup of the rosette and refresh it regularly. Water the growing medium as needed, allowing excess moisture to drain freely. Avoid keeping the root system continuously saturated.
Soil: Use a loose, airy, fast-draining bromeliad or epiphytic mix. Excellent drainage and root aeration are more important than a rich or moisture-retentive soil.
Temperature: Aechmea ‘Peggy’ prefers warm tropical to subtropical conditions. Protect from frost and prolonged exposure to cold temperatures.
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial, particularly in warm growing conditions. Maintain good air circulation around the foliage.
Fertilizer: Feed lightly during active growth with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Bromeliads require relatively little fertilizer, and excessive feeding should be avoided.
Growth Habit: Forms an upright rosette of long, slender green foliage. Mature plants develop a tall, branched central stalk followed by ornamental fruit development. As with other bromeliads, the mature mother plant will gradually produce offsets, or pups, around its base as it completes its natural growth cycle.
Landscape Use: Excellent for tropical and subtropical gardens, shaded landscape beds, bromeliad collections, protected patios, and decorative containers. Its tall branching display provides beautiful vertical interest among lower-growing tropical foliage.
Indoor Use: Suitable for bright interior spaces where it can receive abundant filtered light, warmth, and good air circulation.
Please Note: Plants are living products and naturally vary in size, shape, coloration, and maturity. The colorful reproductive display develops only on mature plants and changes naturally as it progresses from flowering into fruit. Unless specifically stated otherwise, the plant received may not currently be flowering or fruiting.
