Description

🌿 Neoregelia cruenta ‘Pink Albo’ – Rare Pink Variegated Bromeliad

Neoregelia cruenta ‘Pink Albo’ is an extraordinary variegated form of this impressive Brazilian bromeliad, combining bold tropical structure with exceptionally colorful foliage.

The plant forms a broad, open rosette of thick, glossy green leaves, each dramatically traced with vivid pink variegation along the margins. Under strong light, the pink coloration becomes particularly intense, producing a brilliant contrast against the deep green center of each leaf.

Unlike many bromeliads whose strongest color is concentrated primarily near the center of the rosette, ‘Pink Albo’ provides ornamental foliage color throughout the plant. Its broad leaves, strong symmetry, and bright pink edging make mature specimens especially striking.

Neoregelia cruenta originates from coastal Brazil and is naturally adapted to bright, exposed environments. The species develops a substantial rosette and is known for its rigid foliage and characteristic reddish to rose coloration. Variegated forms are especially prized by bromeliad collectors.

As the plant matures, it can produce offsets (“pups”) around the mother plant, eventually forming an impressive tropical cluster.

☀️ Light

Provide bright filtered light to strong outdoor light. This is a relatively sun-tolerant Neoregelia, and brighter conditions generally encourage stronger pink coloration. Plants transitioning from shade should be acclimated gradually to stronger sun to prevent leaf burn.

💧 Water

Keep clean water in the central rosette cup and flush it regularly to prevent stagnant water and mineral accumulation. Keep the growing medium lightly moist but never continuously saturated.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

Best grown in warm tropical or subtropical conditions with good humidity and air circulation. Protect from frost and prolonged cold temperatures.

🪴 Growing Medium

Use a loose, fast-draining bromeliad mix. Orchid bark, pine bark, perlite, and other coarse materials can be incorporated to maintain excellent drainage and airflow around the roots.

🌱 Fertilizer

Feed lightly during active growth using a diluted balanced fertilizer. Avoid heavy fertilization, which can negatively affect foliage quality and coloration.

🌿 Growth Habit

Large, spreading rosette with broad, sturdy foliage. Mature plants can become substantial specimens and will produce pups as part of their natural growth cycle.

Collector Note: Color intensity naturally varies with maturity, season, and growing conditions. Strong light generally produces the richest pink coloration.
