Neoregelia ‘Lila’ is a striking ornamental hybrid grown for its exceptionally vivid foliage and bold tropical character. Forming a broad, spreading rosette, this bromeliad can develop extraordinary shades of intense magenta, fuchsia, pink, burgundy, and green.

The most dramatic coloration is concentrated through the center and inner portions of the rosette, where the foliage can become almost fluorescent pink-magenta. Mature outer leaves provide contrasting green, bronze, and burgundy tones, giving the plant remarkable depth and dimension.

Like other Neoregelias, ‘Lila’ is valued primarily for its foliage rather than a tall floral spike. Its small flowers develop within the central cup of the rosette, allowing the colorful foliage to remain the main attraction.

Light

Provide bright filtered light to partial sun for strong growth and intense coloration. Good light is important for developing the brilliant pink and magenta tones associated with this hybrid. In very hot climates, protect the plant from prolonged harsh midday and afternoon sun, which may scorch the foliage.

Water

Keep fresh water in the central rosette or “cup,” periodically flushing and replacing it to prevent stagnant water and debris buildup. Water the root zone as needed, allowing the growing medium to remain lightly moist but never continuously waterlogged.

Humidity & Airflow

Neoregelias appreciate moderate to high humidity combined with good air circulation. Strong airflow is especially important in warm, humid environments and helps keep the foliage and central cup healthy.

Temperature

Best growth occurs in warm tropical or subtropical conditions. Protect from frost and prolonged cold temperatures. Container-grown plants should be moved to a protected location when cold weather threatens.

Growing Medium

Use a loose, airy, fast-draining bromeliad or epiphytic mix. Avoid dense soils that remain saturated around the roots.

Fertilizer
