Why does shipping sometimes cost more than the plant?

It can certainly seem surprising when the shipping cost is higher than the price of the plant. However, shipping carriers determine their rates based on the package's size, weight, destination, and shipping service—not on the value of the item being shipped.

Many of our plants are offered at very competitive prices, but they still require the same careful packing and protection during transit. To help ensure every plant arrives in excellent condition, we secure each one using custom, handmade wooden supports and intentionally use spacious boxes to help prevent bent foliage, broken leaves, and other shipping damage.

As a result, even an affordable plant may require a relatively large, well-protected package, and the shipping cost can sometimes exceed the price of the plant itself—especially for larger plants or shipments traveling longer distances.

While we continually look for ways to keep our plants affordable, our highest priority is making sure every plant arrives healthy, secure, and ready to thrive. Thank you for your understanding and for appreciating the care we put into every order.
